Report on the visit to
U.S.Space camp and
Rocket center Huntsville

The year ‘2008’ will be remembered as the ‘Golden Year’ in the
history of St. Kabir School, Ahmedabad, as a group of 15 students
and a Chaperone were privileged to travel to U.S.A and the
space camp and take part of in it.


All the student experiences a six – day intensive programme exposing them to the real world application of Maths, Science, Engineering & Technology concepts that they study in school The training programmed entered around extreme outdoor and indoor challenges and activities, from morning to evening.

The camp involved projects, group discussion, quiz etc. The students had fun and gained knowledge and confidence, Participants enjoyed Mars climbing, Space shot, g-force accelerator and museum hunt. In short students will be cherishing life long this insular experience that they had gained at the Space Camp.


The Space Camp program included team building and communication as an integral component. Some of the activities experienced are

- Learn the real Moon Walk using the 1/6 gravity Simulator.
- Lift off at 4 Gs and experience weightlessness on
the Space Shot Simulator.
- Build their own rocket and launch it toward space
from the Rocket launch facility.
- Tumble and spin in the Multi Axis Trainer just like
the Mercury Astronauts.
- Challenge yourself and support the team at the
Area-51 low ropes course.
- On Missions being space shuttle crew member or a space
station crew members and conduct scientific experiments.

A Formal graduation ceremony was held after the completion of the 6 days camp as an honour to the students. Certificate and Special badges were given to individual students and also to outstanding teams. Children were dressed in their flight suits and the ceremony could be attended by the relatives or the family members of the participants so that the students as well as their family members could experience and share their great moment. The graduation ceremony was conducted on October 11th .

Last but not least St.Kabir School, Ahmedabad has got a special feather in its cap by having Pinki Advani , IX B of Naranpura Branch, has been awarded a medal by the US Space and Rocket Center who stood first for her involvement, team spirit, leadership qualities , active participation and showing good learning instincts among 100 students from England and India.
